About Us
Flashes Shopping Guide was established
in 1951, and was published during the winter months only.
It was purchased in 1955 by Len and Arline Hawken who began
publishing year round. It is one of the oldest shopping guides
in the state of Florida, and one of the few independently
owned publications in the state. Gary Hawken is the current
publisher. Flashes is delivered by adult carriers each Wednesday
morning to over 59,000 homes in Martin and St. Lucie Counties.
There are three separate editions to give you a geographical
choice to place your advertising. The south edition is delivered
from Hobe Sound to the Roosevelt Bridge, and includes Hobe
sound, Port Salerno, Palm city, and Stuart. The central edition
is delivered from the Roosevelt Bridge north to Walton Road
and includes Jensen Beach, Rio, Hutchinson Island, and Southern
Port St. Lucie. The northern edition is delivered from Walton
Road to Fort Pierce, and includes Northern Port St. Lucie
and Fort Pierce. For over 56 years, local residents have relied
on Flashes to help to provide an effective, economical method
to help buyers and sellers get together.

Commerce. We belong to Free Community Papers of Florida, Southeastern
Advertising Publishers Association, Independent Free Papers
of America, and Association of Free Community Papers.
Delivery
Each week over 59,000 copies
of Flashes Shopping Guide are distributed by adult carriers.
The vast majority are delivered to single-family homes. Most
condominiums and Mobile Home Parks receive papers at a common
location such as a clubhouse, mail drop area, etc. In addition,
we leave multiple copies at the following high traffic public
